Not many of us are ready to compromise on areas of our life made more convenient by plastic. I get it. I'm no superhero either. But, there are a few things we can do which will make a difference and won't inconvenience us. Win win.

Here are 5 things you can do, easy peasy.

1. Plastic straws...say, no straw please when ordering a drink in a restaurant. If you're like me, you'll mean to do it and forget until the server is walking away. After a few visits though, it'll become a habit. If you buy straws for home, buy paper. If they are individually wrapped, look for ones wrapped in paper, not plastic!

 
   2.  Send an E transfer or give cash rather than plastic gift cards. What is their value? Really? You can say, "here, thought you'd like to treat yourself for something from The Bay, or Chapters or LCBO .... whatever is your choice..

3 Replace those plastic toothbrushes that aren't biodegradable with bamboo, a natural alternative!

  4. Start using bars of soap instead of plastic bottles of liquid soap. There are amazing beautiful varieties and options.

5. Swap out your plastic throwaway k-cups for the reusable k-cups. 10 seconds to rinse it out.  You can feel virtuous all day for not throwing away plastic.
